In December 2007, CPMA introduced an electronic health record program into it's practice. An electronic health record (EHR) refers to an individual patient's medical record in digital format. It acts as a personal health library. Electronic health record systems coordinate the storage and retrieval of medical history and images, laboratory results and drug allergies, prescription and immunization histories. EHR systems are believed to increase physician and staff efficiency and reduce costs, as well as promote standardization of care.  

Along with EHR, CPMA has started to e-prescribe medications. E-prescribing is simply an electronic way to generate prescriptions through an automated data-entry process utilizing e-prescribing software and a transmission network which links to participating pharmacies. E-prescribing is beneficial because it improves patient safety thanks to built-in alert systems, warning against incorrect dosage or drug-to-drug interactions. It streamlines refill requests and authorization processes.
